Back in 1992 when the Nissan Altima was introduced into the auto market, it carried two names, Altima and Stanza. The Altima would make an immediate impact and started to rival the Accord and Camry that had dominated the mid-size category. The Altima was the only name they needed to keep and Nissan has enjoyed the Altima ever since.
Since its first introduction, Nissan has sold over 3.6 million Altimas in the 20-year span. In honor of the Altima being the top-selling vehicle for Nissan’s North American lineup, Nissan has unveiled the new 2012 Altima 20th Anniversary Package.
The snazzy Altima comes with 16” aluminum-alloy wheels, fog lights, rear spoiler, and auto on/off headlights to spruce up the exterior. On the interior, the special-edition Altima gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth® hands-free calling system, HomeLink® Universal transceiver for garage door and home control, and other great features.
“We want to acknowledge Altima’s first two decades and how much it has meant to the company – and reward loyal Altima customers with this special 20th Anniversary equipment package,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “From its uncertain beginnings, Altima has grown to be a real power nameplate for Nissan in the competitive mid-size segment – a position we intend to hold for many more anniversaries to come.”
Patrons can get the 20th anniversary Altima for $950 MSRP, compared to $1,850 if you wanted to add all those features on to a regular Altima! The special-edition Altima will be available to customers starting on November 18th.
