Sports Report

After 14 weeks of the NFL season things are starting to take shape.  As I've said in the past, the NY Jets will go as far as Mark Sanchez takes them.  What once was considered a given, the playoffs now seem like they are a million miles away.  The next three weeks will determine how and if the Jets can make a run.  My guess is no - they will fall flat on their face.
The G-men on the other hand are doing the two things you need to do this time of year.  Their defense is controlling the game and the offense is running the ball at will.  This usually means success in the league when they play for pay.
Can it be?? The NY Knicks are 16-9 and winners of 12 of 13 games.  Whether or not they are for real is yet to be seen but it sure has brought excitement back to the garden.  GO KNICKS...

Sports with Fran

What a rough weekend for local football fans.  The Giants were beaten soundly by the rejuvenated Dallas Cowboys and their new head coach Jason Garrett.  Even though the G-men were missing several key players the loss was still inexcusable.  The Jets in the mean time won a game for the third week in a row they had no right winning.  The next 3 weeks are big for both teams and should give us an indication on how they will finish.

Even though it is still very early, I would have to say that all of our local NBA & NHL teams are in for long season, so don't look for anything there.
Locally, the men's and women's basketball teams at Marist get underway.  Lets hope the women can continue their winning ways and the men can become competitive again.  I am Red Fox Club member so let me know if you need any tickets.
