Poughkeepsie Nissan is happy to write that this month Nissan North America, Inc. announced its planned participation in the Vehicle-CRS Fit Program, proposed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The program is aimed at helping consumers choose child restraint systems that properly fit their vehicles.
In 2002, after learning that some of Nissan’s customers were having difficulty determining which child safety seats properly fit their vehicles, Nissan announced the launch of an industry-first guide called Snug Kids ™.
The Snug Kids ™ guide helps parents confidently select a child restraint that fits their Nissan vehicle while also providing valuable tips on the proper fit of a child restraint. The guide was developed by Nissan safety engineers certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians who spent thousands of hours evaluating hundreds of child restraints by installing them in all the rear seats of current Nissan vehicles.
“Nissan is committed to passenger safety – including the safety of children, our most precious cargo,” said Bob Yakushi, director of product safety, Nissan North America. “We began Snug Kids ™ to aid caretakers in the purchase and installation of child restraint systems and fully support NHTSA’s direction.
